The Ministry for Foreign Affairs in cooperation with WWF Finland has created guidelines for environmentally sustainable meetings which will be followed throughout the Arctic Council meetings in Finland. Arctic Biodiversity Congress is part of the Finnish Chairmanship program, and these guidelines will be followed in the Congress arrangements and implementation.

  • Avoiding individually wrapped products and catering disposables

  • Purchasing products manufactured from environmentally friendly materials
  • Limiting the amount of printed materials in our meetings
  • Limiting the amount of printed papers and favouring electronic materials

Transport and informal events

We are committed to:

  • Planning informal events and programmes with minimum transportation
  • Offering nature friendly experiences
  • Introducing sustainable development solutions from Finland.

In addition, the participants of the Arctic Biodiversity Congress may voluntarily consider environmental impacts of their own travel and participation arrangements. With regard to the possibility to compensate the CO2 emissions of the flights, we recommend to check the policy with your airline. Gold Standard Certificate is one way to check the climate security and sustainable development aspects of the project.
